Chad Herst · This Is Actually Happening
Welcome.

I’m Chad Herst, a mind/body coach and the author of The Performance Trap. For much of my life, I tried to stop feeling pain and insecurity once and for all.
I’m learning to welcome what arises, including the part of me that wants to get this right. In my coaching and in the book, we pay attention to what happens when the pressure is on. That can give us more room to choose what to do next, even when the feeling is still there.
I’ve shared a few more moments from my own life here. If hearing my story brought up something from yours, you’re welcome to add it. It doesn’t have to resemble mine, and it doesn’t need a resolution.

The book
The Performance Trap: The Ache No Success Will Ever Fix follows my own life and the patterns I came to recognize in it. It also offers practices for the pressure to perform.
Stay in touch
I write a letter every other week, usually a story from my own life or a reflection on something I’m working through. I often include a recording if you’d rather listen.
Receive the next letter. You can read and listen here without signing up.
